Designer Tiago Russo's Rare Irish Whiskey Packaging Celebrates Heritage and Craftsmanship

The Emerald Isle Collection, a unique blend of art, design, and the world's rarest Irish whiskey, is a testament to the creative genius of designer Tiago Russo. This article explores the inspiration, unique properties, and the intricate process behind this iconic collection.

The Emerald Isle Collection represents a harmonious marriage of Faberge's iconic heritage and the rich narrative of Ireland. The collection is a unique celebration of whiskey, art, and craftsmanship. The iconic egg shape, a symbol synonymous with Faberge, is used as a design accent throughout the collection, while the opulent colored gemstones reflect Ireland's traditions and natural beauty.

The Emerald Isle Collection stands out for its timeless art statement that merges the rarest Irish whiskey in the world with the iconic heritage of jewelry creations from Faberge. Seven iconic places in Ireland inspired the bespoke details subtly crafted into the collection's packaging. The Emerald Isle Collection is a uniquely time-defying celebration of luxury, color, and boldness of the rarest Irish whiskey ever created.

Design, technology, and craftsmanship meet the highest of standards to bring together The Emerald Isle collection. Each box features a unique geometric illustration, etched into the polished walnut in solid brass string. At the center is an egg-shaped opening, decorated with cabochon emeralds, which locks from the top. Behind, two latched medallions initiate the revealing of the secrets behind the doors, with the key and lighting controls that begin the immersive experience.

The Emerald Isle Set is composed of two boxes: the main box, in walnut and golden details, sets the mood and the interaction with the exclusive products inside. Each set is accompanied by a transit/display case, with a clear display and a solid walnut base, powered by batteries with LED channels providing self-illumination to the products in a museum-like display.

The Emerald Isle was designed between March 2020 and January 2021, and first launched at a private auction in February 2021 where it sold for over 2 Million USD, breaking the world record for the most expensive whiskey ever sold. Each of the 7 units has been manufactured one by one and selling for record-breaking prices ever since, reaching above the 4 Million USD mark.

The main challenge in creating The Emerald Isle was to create something so unique, so luxurious, that would take the whiskey and luxury markets by storm. The materials had to be the absolute best, applied with jewelry precision, in intertwining gemstones, natural wood, and gold, creating at the same time, a truly immersive and meaningful experience for any of the exquisite 7 owners of this rarest of products. The challenge of merging art, jewelry, craft, and design into one creation.

This Design was awarded Platinum in A' Packaging Design Award in 2022. Platinum A' Design Award recognizes world-class, exceptional, and highly innovative designs that showcase unmatched professionalism, genius, and contribute to societal wellbeing. Awarded to the defining aesthetics of an era, they advance the boundaries of art, science, design, and technology, exhibiting transcendent excellence and making the world a better place.
